Tumblr - New Home Of My Film Diary

This is the address for my brand new Tumblr site where I will be updating my film diary and other inspirational things... quotes, videos, illustrations etc, I will be using this as my online scrapbook. Please follow me!

Every Day Is Like Sunday

I'm back home for Christmas so the snacks are out, the fire is on, Christmas soundtrack is on my itunes and I have lots of time to blog all of my most recent shoots. Starting with the above shoot with Lucy McCadden at Boss. This story was shot on a cold and windy day in Blackpool at the end of November... I like to choose the most glamorous of locations for my shoots! Massive thanks to the whole team for toughing the cold... Hair & Make Up by Rebecca Anderton & Styling by Zoe Hancock. Also thanks to the Inglewood Seafront Hotel for letting use the hotel as a location... and also feeding us biscuits!

Film Diary

Every time I go away, I always take my film camera. I come back home with loads of films and I get excited because I have forgotten what is on them. The pictures always make me happy so I have decided to take my film camera with me all the time to create a sort of diary in pictures. Each test or job I do I am shooting a couple of out-takes so eventually I will have a collection of nice film portraits. Here is number one. Sarah - 16/10/2011.

Keeping Things Simple

Trying to do a bit of a portfolio update at the moment bringing in more simple, polished fashion images focusing on lighting and styling. I will be testing over the next couple of weeks so any models, HMUs and stylists who are looking to get some new shots, feel free to get in touch.

USA on Film

Just a little selection of images from America. I came back with 5 films and 1,662 digital pictures to go through. Just finished my editing this morning so I will be posting them on here very soon! In the mean time these are some of my favourites from the films.

Hello Stranger

Well, I am back!... I have actually been back for about three weeks but have been extremely slack with my blogging. But late is better than never. Lots of travel pics to come but thought I would kick off with a nice test picture of the beautiful Sarah Maxwell from PHA.

So Long

Well, the time has come and I am off to New York in the morning but thanks to Jon Simpson at Cock Design, I have a lovely new web update in time for my departure. I now have three fashion portfolios which include some images have never been featured on this blog. Take a look at http://www.helenkirkbright.co.uk/fashion1.html
Back in October with (hopefully) lots of new travel pictures.

See you soon!

Sacred Geometry

This will be one of my last posts before I go to America! I leave in a week so it has officially entered the time period when I have to start dropping it into every conversation!
These images are from a collaborative test shoot last weekend with textile and prop design team 'Sacred Geometry'.
Sacred Geometry are Mariel Osborn and Anna Beam and they are based in Islington Mill. Their work ranges from conceptual set pieces to more fashion oriented body props and accessories. They have some amazing stuff, more of which can be seen on their blog http://www.crystallinecompound.blogspot.com/
Our model was Lauren Earth who was amazing as usual. Always a pleasure to work with, Lauren struck the right balance being able to look strong but also quite pure... almost ethereal.
Hair & Make Up artist was Kaye Fleming who really did a brilliant job creating a look that was really striking without being too heavy or overdone. One of those days where everything comes together!

Smoke & Mirrors

So here are the studio shots from the morning of my day shooting with Rona. The shoot was styled again by Paddy Razzi who did a great job, I am really pleased with the pictures.
